worst case scenario question Empty worst case scenario question

How does one stop thinking worst case scenarios with present situations when they have a flashback if the worst case scenarios were things that helped keep them safe in the past?

    (my previous entry said.......
i have a tendency to think worst case scenarios because of my past experience with trauma.

i've heard that they are the knee jerk reactions of a wounded mind that get triggered when i'm stressed and that i can realize i'm being triggered and that the things i'm thinking are just flashbacks, not true, just something my brain does when i'm stressed.

i wish i knew of a way to let them go but i find i cling to them because they were the things that protected me in the past.

    ideas?
