Hi Richard. I hope I'm doing this right; I just registered.
I've just left my NPD partner (after a second go-around) for a total of 6 1/2 years, with 2 1/2 years no-contact, in the middle. Until this year, I didn't know anything about Cluster B's or Covert Narcissism, or 'going no-contact', except it seemed the best thing to do at the time. Thanks to you and so many other wonderful people in the YouTube community, I've come a long way in the last 8 months and am working on healing myself. I came to terms with the idea that there was nothing I could do to help him.
I just found out that he was abused in prison. Realistically, Yes, he was in prison for Anti-social behavior anyways, but my question is: Could the abuse have caused him to become totally NPD? Or is it likely he was NPD anyways? Apparently his parents never put boundaries on him - ever - as a child.
Thank you.
